Made in India. Made by Moms. 5 Eco-friendly Products

Mothers in India have emerged as a force to reckon with in every possible field and are forging ahead with confidence. Let’s have a look at some of these mompreneurs who have some great products running under their banner.

When a woman becomes a mother, her priorities change. Her life starts revolving around her kids and their safety becomes her number one priority. It was these Mompreneurs whose search for safe, chemical-free and natural products for kids that led them to realise a dearth of such products in the Indian market. Let’s have a look at some of these Moms who are at the top of their games today.

When Mumbai-based Pallavi Utagi encountered frequent diaper rashes with her newborn, she began the hunt for a disposable diaper substitute. Concerned about the impact disposable diapers have on the environment, Pallavi came up with the idea of Indian moms using cloth diapers over generation with promises of no-spill and keeping the baby dry. This led to the launch of her own brand of eco-friendly, cloth diapers – Superbottoms.

They work with a team of freelance designers – mostly moms – to create colourful and quirky outer covers. The pad inside is available in organic cotton and polyester, and can even be used overnight. These diapers, which can be washed in a washing machine, come in newborn and free sizes. This is surely a revolutionary product in India.

That’s when she decided to do something about it & create products which were completely safe & certified toxin free. This is how Mamaearth was born.

With the aim of making products which are mum-baby friendly, toxin-free, meet stringent international standards, Mamaearth product has become an instant hit among the mom community.

Shumee Toys

Educated at IIT and Harvard, Meeta Sharma could solve most problems but struggled to figure out how to keep her little boys engaged in activity that was safe and fun. Good toys were hard to find in India. The ones in the market were plastic, unimaginative or simply too expensive.

Eventually, she grew tired and decided to solve the problem for good. She located toy-makers in India and worked with them to design toys that were non-toxic, fun and useful. The results were great. Not only did her boys love them, so did their friends!

Meeta decided to spread the cheer. And Shumee was born. The one-stop for toys you can trust.

Many women in India are becoming entrepreneurs, but it is noteworthy that a large numbers of them are mothers. And, the products they have come up with deserves a big round of applause.

India is proud of you Moms!
